Biography
Dr. Chris Bottrill is the Dean of the Faculty of Global and Community Studies, North Vancouver, Canada. He holds a PhD in tourism networks and destination development. He has taught a wide array of tourism topics at several universities and has over 20 years of experience in over 50 tourism management and development projects around the globe. Many of these have focused on community based tourism development. Recent activities include directing the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Foundation supported Vietnam Community Tourism project, a four–year community tourism project in Paraguay, and multiple stakeholder engagement for Tourism in Tanzania. Recently Dr. Bottrill also completed a PATA project on indigenous tourism and human rights in association with the World Indigenous Tourism Alliance (WINTA) and with support from the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office. Dr. Bottrill is a PATA Board member and current Chair of the PATA Human Capital Development Committee.
