Rory Hunter is an Australian citizen based in Hong Kong. He is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of
Song Saa Hotels and Resorts, the developer and operator of the multi-award-winning Song Saa Private Island in the Koh Rong Archipelago in Cambodia (www.songsaa.com). Rory has pioneered sustainable development in Cambodia and is leading the private sector in ensuring the preservation of the country’s unique coastal environment. Rory co-founded the Song Saa Foundation in 2013 (www.songsaafoundation.org), an independent NGO that is dedicated to improving the wellbeing of local communities and the natural environment of Cambodia’s Koh Rong Archipelago and beyond. Prince Albert II of Monaco recently partnered with the Foundation to assist with the expansion of the Koh Rong Marine Reserve, Cambodia’s first, set up by Rory in 2006. In recognition of his professional accomplishments, his commitment to society and his inspiring leadership, in early 2015 Rory was selected by the World Economic Forum to join the Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGLs). He was also a guest speaker at the 2014 G20 in Brisbane sharing Song Saa’s story and his vision of ‘Tourism’s New Frontiers’. Prior to becoming an influential social entrepreneur, Rory was a successful advertising executive and worked for global firms including Saatchi and Saatchi. Rory has a Bachelors of Economics from the University of Sydney and is currently studying at Harvard Business School. He is an avid skier, sailor and multi-sport athlete and completed New Zealand’s challenging 243km Coast to Coast race in 2015. Rory is married to co-Founder Melita Hunter and they have one son, Naryth.
